Dear friends today we will see, How to export virtual machine in OVF format. We can take a backup of our virtual machine using ovf export and we can deploy in other VMware host or same host in future as same state. If we want to test any think in our virtual machine such as any package we want to up-grade in our virtual machine. There is a best option to take ovf of your virtual machine before any changes or up-gradation. So that you can deploy your virtual machine if there is any miss behaving in your virtual machine after up-gradation or any changes.

First of all we need to shutdown our virtual machine that we want to take ovf export. So we have to select our virtual machine after selection your virtual machine you will get power option in right side. Then can click on Power Off the virtual machine option to shut down your virtual machine. You can see in below screen shoot.
After shutdown our virtual machine we can take export OVF of our virtual machine. Now we have to select virtual machine which we want to take ovf. Then you have to go File–> Export–>Export OVF Template. Then you can find below screen.
After that you can get Export OVF Template windows, where you have to select ovf name and directory where you want to save your virtual machine. You can check out if you don’t want to take a backup of your mounted CD/DVD image with your virtual machine. You can see screen shot in below.
After completed all your inputs you have to click ok button to start export OVF. After that you will get below windows where you can see your OVF exporting is started. See in below screen shot.
Its take some time according to your virtual machine storage space. Once it’s completed we will get successfully message. You can see in below screen shot.
You can see in above we have successfully competed Export ovf template. Check your ovf backup directory where we have stored it. You will see in below screen shot, you have a successfully ovf file store in your backup directory.
Now you can see you have ovf file and virtual machine disk in above screen shot.
